Privacy Policy

Effective Date: August 14, 2026

PreClear Cybersecurity, Inc. ("PreClear," "we," "us," or "our") provides tools designed to help people evaluate unfamiliar digital files, understand security signals, and make more informed trust decisions.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, when we share it, and the choices available to you when you use the PreClear website, applications, and related services (collectively, the "Services").

1. Information We Collect

We collect information depending on how you use PreClear.

Account Information

When you create a PreClear account, we may collect information such as:

  • Your name
  • Your email address
  • Password credentials in securely hashed form
  • Account status
  • Subscription status
  • Family household membership, if you use PreClear Family

We do not store your password in readable form.

Files Submitted for Analysis

When you submit a file to PreClear, the file is temporarily processed so that we can evaluate available security and trust signals and provide a recommendation.

PreClear does not operate as a file-storage service and does not retain the submitted file itself as permanent account content after analysis.

PreClear may retain information generated from or associated with an analysis, including information such as:

  • File name
  • File type and extension
  • File size
  • Cryptographic file fingerprint
  • Date and time of analysis
  • Security and trust signals
  • Recommendation
  • Confidence information
  • Explanations and reasons
  • Recommended next steps
  • Educational information related to the analysis

As part of the analysis process, PreClear may generate a cryptographic fingerprint, such as a SHA-256 hash, and use that fingerprint to query third-party security intelligence services, including VirusTotal, to determine whether an existing reputation or security report is available for that fingerprint.

PreClear does not upload the submitted file itself to VirusTotal as part of this lookup.

Analysis summaries and related decision information may be saved to your private Trust Journal. The original uploaded file is not stored in your Trust Journal.

You should not upload highly sensitive personal, medical, financial, confidential, or legally protected information to PreClear.

Trust Journal Information

PreClear may save information about completed analyses to your private Trust Journal, including information such as:

  • File name
  • Date and time associated with an analysis
  • Recommendation provided by PreClear
  • Confidence information
  • Explanations
  • Security or trust information
  • Educational information
  • Related decision information

Trust Journal entries are associated with the individual account that created them.

For PreClear Family accounts, members may share subscription benefits and usage allowances, but each member's Trust Journal remains private to that member.

Subscription and Billing Information

If you purchase a paid PreClear subscription, payments are processed by Stripe.

PreClear may receive and retain information associated with your subscription, such as:

  • Stripe customer identifiers
  • Subscription identifiers
  • Subscription plan
  • Billing interval
  • Subscription status
  • Renewal or cancellation status
  • Current subscription period information

PreClear does not directly store full payment card numbers or card security codes.

Stripe may independently collect and process transaction, device, network, authentication, fraud-prevention, cookie or similar technology, and related information when you interact with Stripe services. Stripe processes this information according to its own privacy practices.

Communications

If you contact PreClear, submit a contact form, request a password reset, receive a Family invitation, or otherwise communicate with us, we may process information such as:

  • Your name
  • Your email address
  • Message contents
  • Information necessary to respond to your request or deliver the communication

We use Resend to deliver transactional communications, such as password-reset messages, Family invitations, contact confirmations, and other service-related email.

Information necessary to deliver these messages, including recipient email addresses and message content, may be processed by Resend.

Technical Information

When you use the Services, our systems and service providers may automatically receive technical information such as:

  • IP address
  • Browser and device information
  • Operating system
  • Pages or features accessed
  • Request timestamps
  • Error and diagnostic information
  • Security and abuse-prevention information

We may use this information to operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the Services.

  • Process files submitted for analysis
  • Generate security and trust recommendations
  • Query available third-party security intelligence using file fingerprints

3. PreClear Family

PreClear Family allows multiple individual accounts to participate in a shared household subscription.

The household may share certain subscription benefits, including a shared monthly analysis allowance.

Each Family member maintains a separate PreClear account.

Family owners may be able to see limited household administration information, such as:

  • Member names
  • Member email addresses
  • Membership roles
  • Pending Family invitations
  • Number of household seats in use

Membership in a PreClear Family household does not, by itself, give the household owner or other Family members access to another member's private Trust Journal.

If a member leaves or is removed from a Family household, that member's account and private Trust Journal remain associated with that member unless the account or information is separately deleted in accordance with available PreClear functionality or applicable law.

We may share information with service providers that help us operate PreClear.

These providers may support services such as:

PreClear does not sell personal information for monetary consideration.

If our practices change in a way that creates additional rights or obligations under applicable privacy law, we will update this Privacy Policy and provide any notices or choices required by law.

If PreClear introduces non-essential analytics, advertising, or similar tracking technologies, we will update our disclosures and, where required, provide appropriate notice or consent controls.

7. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Services, maintain account functionality, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and protect the security and integrity of PreClear.

Different categories of information may be retained for different periods.

For example:

  • Billing and transaction records may be retained as necessary for accounting, tax, fraud-prevention, dispute-resolution, and legal purposes.
  • Password-reset and Family-invitation tokens expire and may be invalidated after use.

We may retain certain information for longer when required by law or reasonably necessary for security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or enforcement of our agreements.

No internet service, transmission method, or data-storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and protecting access to your account.

We encourage you to review the privacy policies of third-party services you choose to use.

13. Security Analysis Is Not a Guarantee

PreClear provides decision-support information based on available signals, security intelligence, and analysis.

No security analysis can guarantee that a file is safe, malicious, trustworthy, free from malicious content, or otherwise free from risk.

PreClear's analysis and recommendations are intended to help you make more informed decisions and should not be understood as a guarantee of safety or security.

14. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as PreClear evolves, our service providers or practices change, or legal requirements change.

When we make changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this Privacy Policy.
